Home Sweet Home, Part II

So, last time I blathered on about my little reading nook area.  Well, now let’s turn our attention to the other side of my living room.  While I generally don’t love furniture against the walls like this, the last time I lived in this apartment (yes, after I moved back to San Jose, I moved into the exact same unit I lived in before I moved to NYC), I had the couch facing the windows and the TV in front of them, and I didn’t want to do the same thing again. Anyway, so this is my living room.  The couch is IKEA’s Kramfors with a nice wool-blend slipcover they, sadly, don’t make anymore.  The new slipcovers are strangely textured and not as nice.  The side table to the left is from West Elm and the table to the right was picked up at a consignment store (my mom bought the other table in the set and the matching sideboard).  The lamps and shades are both from Target.  I love my little plastic skull on the left and my vintage pewter lion on the right.  The clear chair is a lovely Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chair and the table is the medium-height T-Table in amber by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell.  I really wish I had hardwood because the area kind of needs a rug to anchor everything, but I refuse to put a rug on carpet.  I think maybe a second table might help add a little more weight, but we’ll see.  The big giant banner on the wall behind the couch is from BetterWall and is an actual banner that hung in NYC to promote the Neue Galerie’s exhibit of the Kirchner street scene painting you see there.  Kirchner is my favourite artist (I have the central figure from his painting Friedrichstraße tattooed on my calf) and, though that banner cost a small fortune, I love it and think it’s pretty much perfect in my house.  So, yeah…  The end.  Heh.  I don’t have the energy to write a witty conclusion.
