Running Fool

So, as I briefly mentioned in a post several months ago, I managed to put on some weight.  Then I put on a little more when I met the lovely Mikhail (my awesome boyfriend, whom I’ve not mentioned before, I don’t think).  Well, turns out I managed to gain back all the weight I’d lost (and had put on when I was married and living in NY).  (sigh)  So, I’ve had about enough of that.  After a couple of false starts, I’ve jumped back on the healthy living bandwagon, and have been eating right and watching what I eat (food diaries are very helpful) this week.  Not that I really wasn’t aware of how much I was eating before when I was gaining, but the food diary is an easy way to really keep things in perspective.  Anyway…  Last time I lost the weight just by changing my diet.  This time I’m being a good girl and exercising too.

Anyone who knows me knows I hate exercising.  I hate going to the gym.  But, in addition to knowing it will help me lose weight, I know I need to do it.  I’m not so young anymore and I want to stay as hot and awesome as I am now, so, you know…  Anyway, I started the Couch to 5K program on Monday and, much to my surprise, I’m doing well!  I tried it when I lived in NY, as we had a track nearby, and it just wasn’t happening.  I don’t know why it seems to be going okay now, but I’m glad.  I’ve completed the first week and the first day of the second week.  Go me!  I don’t exactly love it, but I’m motivated enough to keep at it.  I’m still slightly skeptical that I’ll be able to jog for thirty minutes in a couple of months, but it’s supposed to be effective, so we shall see!

For my own benefit:
W1, D1: Speeds: 3.7/5.0/5.2. 30 minutes total.
W1, D2: Speeds: 3.7/5.2. 30 minutes total.
W1, D3: Speeds: 3.7/5.2. 30 minutes total.
W2, D1: Speeds: 3.7/5.0. 30 minutes total.

In other news, Mikhail and I are going to Vegas for a long weekend at the end of this month and  I am ridiculously stoked.  Woo!  It’s his birthday and we’re going to have an awesome time.  We’ve got a suite booked at the Venetian, tickets to Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular, which has the awesomest name ever and is supposed to be really cool, and I’m sure lots of drinking and walking around and superterrificfuntimes™.
